Brian Cody says both Kilkenny and Clare will be determined to win Sunday's Division 1A relegation decider.

Demotion to Division 1B would constitute a setback for either team, so there is a huge prize at stake in Nowlan Park this weekend.

"We don't want to be relegated," the Cats boss states in The Kilkenny People. "If we are relegated or if Clare are relegated, either Kilkenny or Clare could still win the league next year. That is the reality of the way the league is. Who knows?

"We are not in the concluding stages of the league. Do we want to win next Sunday? Of course we do. Do Clare want to win? Of course they do. It is going to be a serious, serious game with so much up for grabs.

"I don't see any psychological advantage in having beaten Clare already. We will approach the game as usual, trying to win. Next weekend there is something important at stake for both of us. Who know what will happen?"
