Leitrim manager Shane Ward was happy with the second-half display against London.

Ward secured his first league win as Leitrim senior manager when his team stepped on the gas after the break to despatch London at Carrick-on-Shannon on Sunday.

"It was a good second-half performance; a good, solid, honest performance. That bit of a breeze was helpful to us and we kicked 1-9 from play and 1-13 in total so that was a good response," he told The Leitrim Observer.

"I'm not overly happy with the first half but we got that sorted out at half time and put ourselves in a good position at the end. We knew it was going to be a very difficult first half because we knew London would try and throw everyone behind the ball and try to catch us on the break.

"No matter who you are playing against, when they put 15 men behind the ball, concede possession to short kick-outs, they are going to be hard to break down. But over the course of the game that never lasts. I was glad to see they went out in the second half and broke that down."
