Terry Hyland insists that Cavan's promotion prospects are still alive.

The Breffni County suffered their first defeat of the campaign at home to Down on Satuday night but are still just a point off the top of Divisin Two, having accumulated three points from a possible six thus far.

Manager Hyland believes back-to-back promotion is not beyond his players:

"We're not panicking or giving up hope of having a decent league campaign just because we lost to Down on Saturday night," he states in The Irish Mirror.

"After all, it was only the third round of the league so we still have four more matches left in the competition in which we'll be hoping to pick up a reasonable haul of points."

The Cavan boss is delighted to have All Star nominee Cian Mackey back in contention after an eleven-month lay-off: "It's good to have Cian back but I reckon it will be a while before he will be in contention for a starting place."
