McIver slams "hometown decision"

Brian McIver criticised referee David Coldrick following his decision to award Tyrone a late free, which denied Derry victory at Omagh on Saturday night.

The Oak Leaf manager described the decision to award the free to Tiernan McCann, which Darren McCurry converted to earn Tyrone a 0-11 to 1-8 draw, as a "hometown decision". The result leaves Derry rooted to the bottom of Division 1 of the Allianz League with just one point from three games.

"Decisions were going like that for the great percentage of the night against us - I'm saying nothing," fumed McIver.

"We were the better side and coming up to the last couple of minutes, we were well in control. The free-kick at the end, we had turned the ball over and our man (Fergal Doherty) was fouled on the way out.

"It should have been a free out, game over. Not a doubt. Not a doubt."

McIver complained that it wasn't the only decision to go against his team.

"Take you pick," he quipped.

"Earlier, we got a man (Brian Og McAlary) black-carded for something Tyrone men got yellows for but look, we should have won the game and we didn't."
