"A few rows here and there are always a good thing"

The return of Colm Cooper and Darran O'Sullivan to full fitness could result in 'a few rows here and there' at Kerry training according to Kieran Donaghy.

The Kerry captain was, of course, talking in terms of the competitive edge the experienced duo will bring to training matches.

"To get Colm (Cooper) and Darran O'Sullivan back fit will bolster our attack, training matches and up competition within the squad," he outlined to The Irish Daily Star.

"(It will) get a bit of edginess in the squad, a few rows here and there, which are always a good thing.

"And for the management it gives them an unbelievable headache, which is great."

'Star' - who turns 32 next year - continued: "I think for us, especially in the early part of my career, every time we won an All-Ireland you'd nearly go back the following year and you'd say you nearly know five of the forwards.

"You'd say, 'he'll be there again, he'll be there again', and you might have one AN Other, a battle for this position.

"But you could actually have a situation where you could start the Munster Championship next year with a completely different forward line."

Whatever happens in the coming months, the Austin Stacks man proved last year that there will always be a role for a big target man in gaelic football, whether as a Plan A or a Plan B.

"That's sport, it creates this debate. But it did frustrate me to hear that type of football's finishing in Kerry and that was said by local people down here as well as national people.

"That was a tough one to take because it has served us (Kerry) well for numerous years."
