Brendan Quigley is set to miss Laois' Allianz Football League game against Cavan next weekend after receiving a straight red card in the closing stages of today's opening round defeat to Westmeath.
The big midfielder is facing a one-match suspension following an incident involving Westmeath captain Ger Egan in the 67th minute, meaning he will miss the visit of the Breffnimen to O'Moore Park next Saturday night.
Experienced defender Padraig McMahon was also sent off by referee David Gough in the 55th minute for dragging down Denis Glennon, but will be available for the second round clash as it was his second yellow card.
