It took extra time in snowy conditions as IT Sligo left The Dub in Belfast as victors after this hard fought Sigerson Cup Round 1 victory over Queens.

Evan Regan's early goal put IT Sligo into the lead but Queen's edged back into contention thanks to the point scoring of Ciaran O'Hanlon and the sides went in at the break with just a point separating them, 1-2 to 0-4.

The terrible conditions meant that just five points were scored in the second half, with Queens sending the game to extra time on a 0-7 to 1-4 scoreline.

Queens had a great opportunity in the first period of extra time but Ryan Murray saw his penalty hit the bar and IT Sligo made the most of that let off to dominate the final ten minutes of the game.

With the scores level 1-5 to 0-8, the Connacht college scored four unanswered points with Regan and Daniel McKenna among the scorers in a stunning display.
