Leitrim county board have denied reports that they will not be funding overnight trips for their inter-county teams in 2015.

Reports emerged from the recent convention that the county's team managers had been asked to travel directly to matches next year in order to help make cut-backs, with the reason being the considerable rise in the costs they incurred for hotel stays and meals in 2014.

However, the board's management committee has since released a statement, outlining that they won't withhold on team funding next year, wherever necessary.

The statement read: "In the normal consultation process between team management and the county management committee, where it is deemed necessary and is in the best interests of the teams concerned, such overnight stays will be catered for. While being committed to getting the best possible value from fundraising and endeavouring to keep within budgetary restraints, Leitrim GAA is categorically committed to the best possible preparation of its county teams into 2015 and beyond."

2014 senior football captain Emlyn Mulligan hit out at the board yesterday, stating that "it doesn't happen anywhere else and it's very annoying to hear about it". Mulligan had decided earlier this year that he would not be committing to county duty in 2015.
