McCorry planning without big names

Down's Marty Clarke

Benny Coulter isn't the only big name new Down manager Jim McCorry is planning without ahead of the 2015 season.

The Irish News is reporting that Marty Clarke, Kalum King, Dan Gordon and Liam Doyle won't be re-joining the county panel, while there is also a question mark hanging over Ambrose Rogers' inter-county future. And it's also believed that long-serving corner back Dan McCartan - younger brother of former manager James - won't be part of McCorry's plans.

News that Clarke won't be committing for the foreseeable future at least will come as a blow to Down supporters who were looking forward to seeing him back in the county colours after he returned home from a three-year spell in the AFL with Collingwood.

Clarke got married a few weeks ago, while he and his wife are also expecting their first child.

Another ex-AFL recruit Caolan Mooney is among those in McCorry's panel which can return to collective training on Monday.
