Donnachadh Walsh was as surprised as anyone when his attempt for point ended up in the back of the Austin Stacks net.

Walsh's 41st minute shot caught in the wind before dropping over the head of goalkeeper Darragh O'Brien and under the crossbar as Mid Kerry came from behind to send the Kerry SFC final to a replay next Sunday.

"The goalie took a few steps out and I caught him, but I mishit it and it dipped in over his head," the Kerry star explained in the Irish Sun.

"A point would have been a good score at the time and that's what I was going for."

Walsh is confident the Mid Kerry will be better the next day.

"All divisional teams seem to get better as the year goes on and the more games we play and train. Hopefully, we will learn from it.

"Stacks will be disappointed. They'll feel they threw it away - they had a four-point lead with a big wind, but it was probably too much of a swirling wind to be that much of an advantage."
