Eamonn O'Hara is expecting his former Sligo manager Kevin Walsh to make a big impact with his native Galway.

The Sunday Game pundit, who launched an extraordinary attack on the newly-installed Galway boss following the Yeats County's shock defeat to London in last year's Connacht SFC, has nothing but praise for the big Killanin man now and believes he is just the man the Tribesmen need to break Mayo's dominance out West.

"He is the type of fella lads will play for. He has a real presence about him. He has a brilliant way with players and he has his own ideas," the former All Star tells the Irish Daily Star.

"He will do very, very well - he is the right fit for Galway.

"If he gets the response from the players that are there, gets them behind him and gets the ones that aren't there to come in they'll have a very talented team.

"We had a couple of challenge matches with the club (Tourlestrane) and the talent in Galway that is not playing with the county… He also had the base with the U21s.

"If he gets the support from the county - I don't know if that has or hasn't been there in the past - he will be successful. It's been 10 or 12 years since the glory days. It's surely time for Galway to come again.

"That's the timeline of Galway football and Kevin is the man for the job."
