Joe McMahon has described winning a Tyrone SFC medal with Omagh as one of the best moments of his life.

The two-times senior All-Ireland winner starred at midfield on the St Enda's side that defeated Carrickmore with an injury-time goal in Sunday's O'Neill County decider to claim the silverware for the first time since 1988.

"It's not to take away from winning All-Ireland medals with your county but to win one with your club ... this is my first-ever medal with my club," he says in The Irish News.

"To be 31 years of age and to be winning your first-ever medal, it's unbelievable. To be leaving this pitch, our home pitch, with the county title is one of the best - if not the best - moments of my life.

"Obviously there have been other highlights in my life away from football, but this is just unreal.

"I suppose that's the one I was always after. I have been after it every year. There was disappointment after disappointment. Our motto throughout the year was to never give up."
