Mayo manager James Horan has hailed the impact that substitutes made when introduced in the second half of the All-Ireland SFC semi final draw against Kerry.

The Connacht side had to play the entire second half with 14 men after Lee Keegan was sent off near the end of the first half.

And it was the impact of the subs that Mayo brought on that made all the difference as they looked set to snatch a brilliant win, only to be denied at the death by the boot of Kieran O'Leary.

Horan felt that Parsons introduction was significant as the midfielder returned from a long spell on the sidelines through injury.

"Tom Parsons also made a big impact. He has been training with huge energy lately and he was just mad to get involved and for his first game for five or six months and to come into an All-Ireland semi-final with that level of drive and fitness was great to see."
