Caolan Mooney runs the ball for Collingwood Magpies

AFL star Caolan Mooney is being tipped to tog out for Rostrevor in tonight's crunch Down SFC clash with Mayobridge.

Mooney has represented Melbourne-based AFL outfit Collingwood for the past three years but is currently at home in Rostrevor and could be used for the key Group A game at Pairc Esler (7pm).

The 21-year-old won two Hogan Cups with St Colman's and had looked poised to be an important player at senior level for the Mourne County before transferring allegiances to the professional code.

Rostrevor and Mayobridge both know that only a victory tonight will be enough to see them through to the knockout stages and it is the importance of the occasion that has led to speculation that Mooney will be called upon.

St Bronaghs lost their second round-robin group match to Kilcoo by eleven points last weekend and could certainly do with some insporation for this do-or-die contest.
