A deflected Dermot McGuckin goal proved decisive as champions Ballinderry continued their winning ways in the Derry SFC with a 1-6 to 0-6 victory over Coleraine at a rain-lashed Owenbeg last night.

The goal came two minutes into the second half after two Conor Nevin points and a Conleith Gilligan effort had given the reigning Ulster club kingpins a slender 0-3 to 0-2 lead at the break.

Swatragh made the most of wind advantage in the opening half, at the end of which they led by 0-7 to 0-2, to overcome Foreglen 0-10 to 0-7, while Ruairi McElwee found the net as Bellaghy eased to a 1-15 to 0-8 victory over city side Steelstown.

Slaughtneil needed extra-time to beat Dungiven 1-13 to 1-8, with Paul Bradley accounting for the winners' goal in the additional period, while goals from James Kielt and Benny Quigg saw Kilrea edge out Newbridge on a 2-7 to 1-9 scoreline.
