'Everyone is very proud of Ciaran'

Daniel Goulding is delighted to see his former Eire Og and Cork team-mate Ciaran Sheehan making waves in the AFL.

Sheehan has adapted to Aussie Rules quickly than expected and impressed on his AFL debut for Carlton in a 97-58 win over the Gold Coast last weekend, setting up a goal and collecting 13 possessions. He also excelled against high-flying Geelong on Friday, but couldn't prevent the Blues from succumbing to an 76-82 defeat.

"It is a savage achievement for Ciaran," the Cork sharpshooter said in the Southern Star.

"There is a great buzz around our club and parish. It was typical of him also that he put in a massive performance on his debut. Everyone is very proud of him.

"He is a super talent. Once he applies himself, he is top drawer. It is a fair sign of the man that he can adapt to a new game that he has just taken up in the just six months. He is an incredible talent and sportsman."

Goulding expressed the hope that Sheehan would end his sporting career in the colours of Eire Og.

"Hopefully, we can link up in the future when he finishes his professional career. It would be great for Ciaran to finish his career with his club-mates and friends, but it's a long way down the line."
