Orchard minors buzzing

Armagh minor manager Paul Doyle says his charges can't wait to tog out against Mayo at Croke Park on Sunday.

The disappointment of losing the Ulster final dispersed quickly when the Armagh U18s learned that they were heading for Croker to lock horns with the defending All-Ireland champions in this weekend's quarter-final (12:00):

"It was a massive boost," Doyle told The Irish News. "There was no need to lift the boys, the buzz was already back with them. It gives them something to aim towards and something to focus on.

"Going down to play in Semple Stadium or anything else, it wouldn't be the same excitement as with Croke Park. The lads are excited, it's every player's dream to play there.

"It's a good Mayo team, but Connacht football is totally different to Ulster. In Ulster, everybody is set up to be defensively solid and build from that.

"Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal were all set up similarly. Mayo are a lot more open and tend to go man-for-man and want to play football. They'll try and outscore you.

"It should be a good open game. The fact that it's in Croke Park would also suit some of our lads with the pace they have. We're delighted to get to Croke Park."
