Louth are not going to rush into naming their next senior football manager.

Former Wee County attacker Colin Kelly and ex-manager Peter Fitzpatrick are among the frontrunners to succeed Aidan O'Rourke at the helm, but county chairman Padraic O'Connor says due process will be followed and that the selection committee, which will be appointed next week, will take its time:

"There is no need to be rushing into anything at this stage," he states in The Drogheda Independent. "The new football review committee are due to meet this week so we decided to hold off on discussions until then.

"But management will confirm a group to carry out the process next week. In the meantime, we have unofficially put out a few feelers and put a few people on notice, who we know are interested.

"We have also had people ringing up offering their services and we'll contact them very soon.

"When the selection committee is in place, we will also be inviting nominations from the clubs.

"There does seem to be a general feeling out there that we need to look in-house this time, and by that I mean within Louth football."
