Sligo progress to the fourth round of the Qualifiers after a 0-12 to 0-10 win over Limerick at Markievicz Park.

A crowd of 2,225 was on hand to witness Sligo supersub Stephen Coen come off the bench to swing the tide in the hosts' favour.

Twelve points were evenly shared during the course of an evenly-contested opening period that saw the action ebb one way and then the other.

At the end of a low-key opening 15 minutes, the sides were deadlocked on 0-2 apiece. Ger Collins punctuated the visitors' first attack with a point and goalkeepers Adrian Devaney and Brian Scanlon traded '45's before wing back Keelan Cawley landed a wonderful levelling score for the Yeats County.

Killian Phair and Mark Breheny swapped points before a long-range Scanlon free sailed over to edge John Brudair's men back in front. Points from Adrian Marren (free) and Pat Hughes saw Pat Flanagan's charges move ahead for the first time with half time approaching and Breheny stretched the gap on 32 minutes.

But two injury-time points from Ryan ensured that the sides went in level at the break, 0-6 each.

The teams managed just a point apiece in the first 20 minutes of the second half but points from substitute Coen, Marren and James Kilcullen edged the home side into a 0-10 to 0-8 lead.

Back came Limerick to tie up the scores and set up a dramatic finale but that man Coen clipped over his second point to edge the Yeats men back in front with time almost up.

The visitors had a number of opportunities to equalise - as well as a goal chance - in stoppage time and Marren also missed a late, late chance of an insurance point before Shane McManus took a pass from Coen to point with the last kick of the match.
