Managers urged to take responsibility for players' behaviour

GAA President Liam O'Neill
Liam O'Neill has called on managers to ensure their players are on their best behaviour when they take the field.
The GAA president's comments come in the wake of the pre-match brawl which marred yesterday's Ulster SFC quarter-final between Armagh and Cavan at the Athletic Grounds.
Fighting broke out as the teams were about the line-up for the pre-match parade. Punches were thrown and Cavan forward Martin Dunne was forced to miss the game after being struck. Referee Marty Duffy took no action, but retrospective bans are expected.
"We don't need those sort of scenes," O'Neill told RTE after this morning's first round All-Ireland SFC qualifier draw.
"We'd prefer that people would behave themselves. It took from what was a classic spectacle and that's a pity.
"We'd like managers to take responsibility for their teams, line them up in an orderly manner and then go and do their parade and play the game.
"Unfortunately that didn't happen yesterday, and it's now the responsibility of the CCCC to investigate and to see what action is appropriate."
He added: "Anything that damages our image is of concern to us and we'll take this seriously and try to make sure it doesn't happen again this summer."
