Veteran forward Darren Clarke has opted out of the Louth squad for 2014.

The St Mary's Ardee forward - who came on as a second half substitute in the recent Division 2 defeat to Meath - tweeted last night: "Sad to say, I've had to withdraw from the Louth senior panel for the rest of 'this' year. Wished the lads all the best. #AnLuAbu."

He didn't elaborate on the reason why he wouldn't be wearing the red and white jersey in this year's championship but added: "Focus is now back with the club. Big win tonight. Nice to be back playing 60 mins competitive football. #StMarysGFC." Tweet
