Kerry defender Darragh O'Connell knows that all sides will be out to beat them in the Christy Ring Cup.

The Kingdom are raging hot favourites to win the second tier All-Ireland title this year after they impressed greatly in the Division 2A league campaign, while they were just a whisker away from gaining promotion to 1B.

However, O'Connell told the Kerryman that they are up there to be shot down and stressed that they will not be taking any side for granted in the championship.

"In the Christy Ring, teams will want a cut off us," stated O'Connell. "They'll look at us and see that we've beaten Carlow, but we're still in the Christy Ring.

"In a way we haven't taken a step forward, it's the same thing now and we just have to look forward and get ourselves right for the Christy Ring." Tweet
