Waters remains positive

Wexford's Tomas Waters
Wexford hurler Tomas Waters is making good progress in the rehabilitation.

Having endured five operations on a knee injury sustained during the All-Ireland qualifier defeat Clare last year, Waters has gone through a torrid time on his road to recovery.

Waters admitted to the Wexford People that he is certain he will return playing hurling, despite the early prognosis suggesting that he wouldn't.

"My outlook now is a lot more positive than it probably was a few months back. It has been tough enough, but I'm getting back into the swing of things at work, and just getting my life back in order," said Waters.

He added: "I've kick on with the rehab over the past two and a half months. I do gym work and light running with the county squad one night per week, while I also do light running with the club two nights a week.

"I've still to be careful not to overdo it, something which the physios, Leinster Rugby's rehab coach Stephen Smith and Wexford physio Ruth McGee, have warned me to avoid.

"It's a difficult one for me, but I don't quite know when I will be back, although it's looking unlikely that I will make the provincial championship."
