FRC open to suggestions on key proposal

Football Review Committee Chairman Eugene McGee
The Football Review Committee has moved to clarify their position on a proposal to alter the championship structures ahead of County Boards sitting down to discuss their findings.
In their second report published last December, the Eugene McGee-led committee proposed that eights teams compete in the four provinces.
They suggest that the losers of first round fixtures in Ulster and Leinster would switch to Munster and Connacht and claim the idea will align the provincial championships in a fairer way and create more free weekends for club players.
They are, however, open to alternative suggestions as to how this could be achieved and are anxious that the key objective of four eights "should not be lost or confused by focusing on one example".
"The key is to reach the four eights structure and enable a more streamlined provincial and All-Ireland series, while facilitating the playing of club championship games throughout the country during the summer months," FRC chairman McGee explained to the Irish Independent.
