Loughgiel Shamrocks star Liam Watson has, apparently, been approached about switching his county allegiance to Dublin.

The 2010 All Star nominee - who underlined his talent with a personal tally 3-7 against Coolderry in the 2012 All-Ireland Club SHC final - set tongues wagging when he tweeted welcoming a possible move to an unnamed county.

The Irish Daily Star revealed that the county in question is Leinster champions Dublin and, while his club manager PJ O'Mullan refused to comment on the identity of the county, he confirmed that an approach has been made to his star forward and criticised his omission from Kevin Ryan's Antrim hurling squad.

"It's fantastic somebody else has shown an interest but Liam should be hurling in Antrim. He's the best trainer I ever seen on the hurling field," O'Mullan told the Irish Daily Star.

"I think it's an absolute disgrace he's not in the Antrim team.

"I wouldn't be telling anybody how to do their job but I don't think a team like Antrim can do without their best players and, in my opinion, he's the best forward they have.

"Every time we go south it's first thing they ask, 'why's he not hurling for Antrim?'. For the simple reason, he's not asked.

"It's a mystery to me. I met with Kevin Ryan (Antrim boss) before Christmas and I pleaded with him to ask him back.

"It seems to be that other members of the squad don't want him there and if that's the case they're on the road to nowhere. When players are dictating who is on teams and panels there's something very badly wrong.

"He's worth the admission fee alone and there's no-one in Antrim like him. Kevin Ryan is the manager and if he wants him he should get him, and if he doesn't want him he should come out and say it in public, and not listen to so many lieutenants."
