Jason Ryan's first competitive game in charge of Kildare resulted in a facile victory over Athlone IT in Newbridge.
The game was over as a contest after 23 minutes when Eoghan O'Flaherty's goal helped the Lilywhites to a 1-11 to 0-0 lead.
A second goal from Darroch Mulhall left the home side perched on a 2-14 to 0-3 lead at half-time. Further goals from O'Flaherty and Padraig Fogarty within 10 minutes of restart extended Kildare's advantage to a whopping 23 points, 4-14 to 0-3.
Cathal Shine accounted for half of the students' tally, while James Dolan chipped in with 0-2. The Kildare line-up included the likes of Ollie Lyons who had also played in a SF challenge defeat to Tipperary earlier in the day.
"We've a lot of players we're trying to get a look at. Playing a competitive game at whatever stage of a season is great," the new Kildare manager said.
