Jim McGuinness will attend a crunch meeting with Donegal's clubs this Friday.
Last year's All-Ireland winning manager has yet to commit to a fourth year at the Tir Chonail helm and he is believed to be considering his future due to the timing of club championship matches in the county this summer, which McGuinness feels hindered his team's progress.
In an effort to resolve the situation, The Donegal Democrat reports that the senior county team management, executive and Competitions' Control Committee will meet with the secretaries, chairmen and managers of all senior and intermediate clubs in Ballybofey in three days' time, primarily to discuss the framework for next year's club championships.
"We gave the clubs an update on the position of senior management at Monday night's monthly county committee meeting," Donegal County Board chairman Sean Dunnion told the newspaper.
"The idea of a meeting with county senior management was positively received as we attempt to find common ground. It was outlined that it's in everyone's best interest to reach a compromise.
"This meeting is part of the process to enable Jim to make his decision. He is in Scotland this week but has agreed to meet the clubs at the first opportunity, which is Friday.
"The main crux of the meeting will be the scheduling of the club championship fixtures for 2014."
