Donegal's Karl Lacey could return to action this month.

The four-times All Star hasn't featured for the Ulster and All-Ireland champions so far this year after undergoing hip surgery in December, but the current Footballer of the Year is nearing fitness again and may even get some game time against Kildare in Round Six of the league on March 24th.

"Karl's recover is going very well at the moment, which is very encouraging," assistant manager Rory Gallagher notes in The Irish News.

"The way his rehab is progressing, we would be hopeful that Karl will be back playing again towards the end of March.

"That was the time scale put in place by the specialist he is working with when he had the surgery and Karl is where he hoped he would be with the rehab work.

"We would be hopeful that he will be back out on the field towards the latter rounds of the national league and, at the moment, we are looking at the end of next month. If he was in a position to be back before the end of the league, that would be a bonus."
