Poland's 1st ever Gaelic Football Tournament
Witam, Fáilte, Welcome to Warsaw 2012!

Cumann Warszawa is honoured to host the first round in 2012 of the Central and East European Gaelic Football Championship on Saturday April 14th. We are delighted to invite you to what will be a day of passion and skill, played in front of a crowd eager to see some live Gaelic football of the highest level in both men's and women's competitions.
At a time when Poland itself will be in the spotlight for sport due to Euro 2012, we are bringing Gaelic Football to international attention with the help of our worthy foes of the Central and East Region. Our board, committee, players, supporters and the wider Irish community have worked hard to aid in promoting the club and the sport here in Poland. The tournament itself is bringing a lot of attention, both at home in Ireland and here and we see this as benefiting not only our club, but all of those who hope to see the sport of Gaelic Football become a true international phenomenon.

April 14th will see four men's and four women's teams battle it out on the pitch at Warsaw Sports Academy (Akademia Wychowania Fizycznego) for the glory of the Warsaw Cup. The teams attending are:
- Prague Hibernians
- Vienna Gaels
- Slovak Shamrocks
- Munich Colmcilles
- And Warsaw's own-CUMANN WARSZAW

We look forward to seeing friends old and new from the region, both on the pitch and off, in what sure to be an epic weekend packed with craic, glory, a bit of silverware (hopefully) and a few laughs.

Aoife Cahill,
Chairperson.

"Forget Euro 2012, this is where the REAL footbal is!"

Poland's first Gaelic Football team came into being two years ago around a small table in an Irish Bar in Warsaw. Four friends: Janet Fleming, Eoin Vaughan, Eoin Sheedy and Colm Murphy took a simple idea and ran with it. Support from the expat community and a burgeoning student population at the local Veterinary University saw that the idea became a reality in the form of a Men's an a Women's team under the name: Cumann Warszawa.

The players come from far and wide; from Israel to Ireland, Norway to Poland and Sweden to Mauritius. Workers and students both, stand side by side on the pitch- part of a new community, setting their sights on achieving the highest level of Gaelic football that Europe has to offer.
We take part in two or three tournaments a year in the Central and East European region, battling it out with stiff competition in the form of Prague Hibernians, Vienna Gaels, and Slovak Shamrocks among others.

This is Warsaw's first hosting since our establishment in 2010 and we are very proud to be taking an active part in the European GAA community. We are embarking on a huge undertaking for a young club and rising to meet the challenge the only way a football club can: as a team!
