Brawl teams hit with €5,000 fines

February 15, 2012

A row breaks out between Monaghan and Kildare players before the half-time whistle at Clones
Fines of €5,000 each have been proposed for Monaghan and Kildare by the CCCC arising from the half-time melee which overshadowed last Sunday's Allianz Football League clash in Clones.

The disciplinary body has decided not to take further action against any individual Monaghan or Kildare player, which will come as a relief to respective managers Eamon McEneaney and Kieran McGeeney. The counties have the option of appealing the proposed fines.

Referee Joe McQuillan sent off Kildare's Brian Flanagan and showed yellow cards to three other players - Monaghan's Dick Clerkin and Dessie Mone and Kildare's Padraig O'Neill - when the teams returned to the field for the second half.
