Kildare manager Kieran McGeeney is consoled County Board Chairman Padraig Ashe after the Lilywhites were defeated by Down in the All-Ireland semi-final
Not surprisingly, there was overwhelming support for Kieran McGeeney's continuation as Kildare football manager at Tuesday night's county board meeting.
Club delegates were unanimous in their support for the former Armagh captain who led the Lilywhites to the brink of an All-Ireland final appearance last month. McGeeney's three-year term officially ended after the defeat to Down, but Kildare are eager to retain his services.
County chairman Padraig Ashe said: "I want Kieran McGeeney as manager again next year and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that happens."
