Hanniffy wary of Shamrocks' pair
November 20, 2008
Birr captain Rory Hanniffy admits that he aware of the fact that his side face a completely different Ballyhale Shamrocks outfit in the Leinster SHC final this time around.
Last year, the Birr shocked the Kilkenny champions, who were without stars Henry Shefflin and James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick, but that lethal pairing will be back this time around as the Shamrocks look to avenge last year's defeat.
"No doubt they're on a revenge mission after last year," said Hanniffy. "We know that and it is a case of knuckling down again and refocusing on a new team, a new challenge. We'll do that early this week and have a god hard week of training.
"The fact of the matter is that Henry and Cha weren't there last year and they will be the next day and we need to focus on that. Obviously those type of players take watching and we'll have to organise ourselves to do that.
"We beat what was there last year and we're going down to try to lose the next day. We are going down to try and win it. They are both multiple All Stars. Last year is last year and this is a different ball game."
Birr scored a dramatic 2-19 to 2-15 victory over Wexford champions St Martin's last weekend at O'Connor Park, which has set up another mouth-watering clash between these two.
