Conor Hayes
Former Galway player and manager Conor Hayes has been added to the selection committee charged with finding a replacement for Ger Loughnane as hurling boss.
The double All-Ireland winning captain managed the Tribesmen for four years before Loughnane took over, and has now been asked to help select the new manager.
Eight nominations have been received for the post - Michael Bond, Jimmy Heverin, John McIntyre, Anthony Cunningham, Gerry Spellman, Noel Lane, Vincent Mullins and Mattie Murphy - and a three-man committee was established last month to select the new manager.
County board chairman Gerry Larkin, who is part of the selection committee, said: "Conor has a wealth of experience as a player and a manager and is a valuable addition to our committee as we select the new manager.
"We met over the weekend and hope to make significant progress this week."
