Donaghy to miss start of basketball season

October 01, 2008
Kieran Donaghy had his first training session with the Abrakebabra Tigers in Tralee last night since Kerry's All-Ireland defeat to Tyrone, but is expected to miss the start of the basketball season on Saturday night. Tralee coach Mark Bernsen does not expect the dual star to play a part in their Nivea for Men Superleague game at home to UCD Marian as he recovers from a long season of GAA activity. "Kieran will be with us but he has not trained very much with us since the All-Ireland final," said Bernsen. "He has had a few niggling injuries and he was always going to be mentally tired after that campaign. But we are looking forward to having him back." Donaghy was a star performer along with Kerry team-mate Michael Quirke when Bernsen guided the Tigers to last season's Superleague title and the cup final, in which DART Killester deprived them of the double.
