Cork SFC: Nemo and Duhallow for final

October 14, 2019

Paul Kerrigan in full flight for Nemo Rangers

Nemo Rangers and Duhallow will face off in the Cork SFC final on Sunday week following their semi-final victories over Douglas and Newcestown at Pairc Ui Rinn yesterday.

Nemo cruised to a 3-12 to 0-7 win over city rivals Douglas. Paul O'Donovan's charges recovered from a slow start to lead by 1-4 to 0-3 after 21 minutes thanks to a Paul Kerrigan goal. Alan O'Donovan raised another green flag to leave them perched on a 2-7 to 0-4 lead at the break and there was no respite for Douglas in the second half when Kerrigan grabbed his second major.

Duhallow will hope to make amends for last year's final loss to St Finbarr's and claim a first title since 1991 after they saw off Newcestown on a 0-12 to 0-7 scoreline.

Despite losing former county star Donncha O'Connor to injury in the 18th minute, they led by 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time and extended their advantage after the restart through points from Anthony O'Connor and Eoghan McSweeney. Luke Meade and Daniel Twomey replied for Newcestown, but the divisional side held on for victory.
