Hopes of Diarmuid Connolly returning to the Dublin football squad have been all but ended.
According to The Herald, the St Vincent's clubman will return to Boston this week and re-join Donegal Boston, whom he helped to championship glory last summer.
The double All Star hasn't featured for Dublin for 16 months and has been conspicuous in his absence as they captured a ninth consecutive Leinster SFC.
Football fans were hoping he'd pull on the blue jersey again this summer as Jim Gavin's all-conquering side bids for a fifth successive All-Ireland but it would appear that those forlorn hopes have now been quashed.
