Donegal All-Ireland winning manager Jim McGuinness and United Soccer League outfit Charlotte Independence have parted company.

The Glenties man was appointed as head coach the North Carolina club on a three-year contract back in December but results on the field fell short of expectations and Charlotte Independence has announced that he has been relieved of his duties after just 14 games in charge.

“Jim McGuinness has improved our club in many ways, including bringing talent to our roster and instituting new training methodologies - both of which we hope to continue moving forward,” Independence President and Managing Partner Jim McPhilliamy said in a statement.

“As a club, our performance is measured on the pitch and collectively, we’ve fallen short. On behalf of ownership, front office and team, the Charlotte Independence organization thanks Coach McGuinness for his service to the club.”
