'Those football people who give out now need to get stuck in'

Departing Wexford manager Paul McLoughlin believes the county’s fortunes in football will not be changed overnight.
The Kildare native stepped down after two years in charge of the Model County following last Saturday’s heavy defeat to Derry in the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.
McLoughlin has let his frustrations over what he feels is the lack of support for Gaelic football in the county, known on numerous occasions before deciding to step down.
However, he told the Wexford People that the issues will not be solved in the short term as football is very much secondary to hurling in the county.
“The players will now go back to their clubs, but how many will solely concentrate on football? For the majority of players, they come from dual clubs and hurling will be the priority,” said McLoughlin.
“This problem is not going to be easy to solve. It has to involve the players, the clubs and the county board. There is a lot of work to be done but it’s up to someone else now. I would love to see the fellas do well but it’s going to be a long haul.
“Those football people who give out now need to get stuck in, but they will quickly find out what it’s like.”
