Any day you win a championship match it’s a good day as far as Donegal manager Declan Bonner is concerned.

After watching his side overcome Fermanagh by 0-15 to 0-9 in Brewster Park today, Bonner told Highland Radio: “It’s always nice to win a championship (game), especially on the road.

“We knew it was going to be difficult coming to Brewster Park. We knew the way that Fermanagh were going to set up, that we needed to be patient and I thought from our point of view it was a good controlled performance.”

A five-point return from the fit-again Patrick McBrearty was the icing on the cake for the Tir Chonaill outfit.

“It was great for the likes of Patrick to get 75, 76 minutes under his belt. A good return from Paddy, Jamie Brennan, Michael Murphy, Ciaran (Thompson), all lads kicked a number of vital scores.”

Donegal’s reward is a semi-final date with Tyrone on Saturday, June 8th in Kingspan Breffni Park.

“It’s all systems go now,” Bonner added. “We go back this evening, get ourselves organised. It will be Tyrone now for the next 13 days and it has the makings of a real cracking match.”
