Conor Whelan hopes Galway can learn from the mistakes they made in today’s draw with Wexford ahead of their trip to Nowlan Park.

The Tribesmen let a six-point half-time lead slip in Pearse Stadium and the corner-forward – who contributed three points to his side’s tally of 0-16 – cut a disappointed figure just before being presented with the ‘man-of-the-match’ award.

“We never really thought we had it won, it was a strong breeze out there,” he remarked to RTE’s ‘The Sunday Game Live’.

“We probably could have had more scores on the board at half-time. That probably cost us going in, playing against the conditions. Wexford were always going to mount a challenge back at us.

“We were lucky enough to draw in the end, could have won it, could have lost it so we just have to learn from a few bits and come back again in two weeks’ time against Kilkenny.”

He added: “Nowlan Park is obviously a very tough place to go so we have to regroup for two weeks’ time. A break in Leinster now next so we’ll try and use that as best we can.”
