Mayo dished out a 21-point hammering to Roscommon in this evening’s Connacht minor football championship clash in Ballina, where it finished 4-14 to 0-5.

Early goals from Ciaran Mylett (2) and Paddy Heneghan saw the hosts off to a blistering start in this and after Frank Irwin supplied a fourth major on 22 minutes the scoreboard would read 4-8 to 0-3 at the half.

The second-half saw just eight points registered between the teams, ensuring that Mayo now sit top of the Connacht MFC table two rounds in.

Meanwhile, Galway were made earn a 0-15 to 1-10 win over Sligo at Tuam Stadium.

The young Tribesmen led by 0-7 to 0-5 at the break before Gavin Duffy struck their net early on in the restart but the visitors couldn’t kick on and finished two short in the end.

Next up in the western province is the meeting of Roscommon and Leitrim next Friday at Dr Hyde Park.
