Mayo sisters sign for West Coast Eagles

Mayo sisters Niamh and Grace Kelly are set to become the latest Irish to play in the Australian Football League Women's (AFLW) after agreeing to join the West Coast Eagles next season.

According to the AFLW's official website, the siblings from Moy Davitts will join the Perth club as rookies later this year. The news comes after fellow county women Cora Staunton and Sarah Rowe signed new contracts with the Great Western Sydney Giants and Collingwood respectively.

The sisters will feature in Mayo's upcoming championship campaign before switching codes.Staunton and Rowe along with Aisling McCarthy from Tipperary, Donegal's Yvonne Bonner and Clare's Ailish Considine, who helped Adelaide Crows to victory over Carlton in the Grand Final, all plied their trade in the AFLW in the season just past.
