Odhran Mac Niallais has confirmed that he will not be returning to the Donegal fold this year.

Mac Niallais, who lined out for Gaoth Dobhair in their win over Sean MacCumhaills today, told Highland Radio that he had lost his appetite for football and would not be making himself available for Donegal's Ulster SFC defence, which begins with a quarter-final against Fermanagh next month.

"I'm not going back. I spoke to Declan (Bonner) last week," the midfielder said.

"I told him I'm not going to play this year. I just have no real interest in football at the minute, to be honest. The last few weeks, even training with the club, I haven't really enjoyed it. I don't have the hunger or desire to give the commitment to Donegal."

Mac Niallais was a close friend of Gaoth Dobhair team-mate Micheal Roarty, who was one of four young men from the locality to die in a tragic road accident earlier this year.
