Eight-time All-Ireland SHC winner Michael Fennelly is facing a race against time to be fit to lead Ballyhale Shamrocks out against St Thomas' in the All-Ireland Club SHC final.

The team captain sustained a knee injury in the semi-final win over Ballygunner and, speaking to the Irish Independent, manager Henry Shefflin expressed the hope that he will be able to call on the experienced Fennelly’s services in Croke Park this Sunday,

“Michael is a key man for us,” Shefflin remarked.

“He has been in situations like this before, and he has worked his way through them.

“We are hopeful.”
