Banagher manager Enda Muldoon has questioned the GAA's decision to do away with replays in provincial club championship games after his side lost Saturday night's Ulster club IFC semi-final to Mullahoran in an historic free-kick shoot-out.

After two periods of extra-time had failed to separate the teams, a free-taking competition from the edge of the 'D' was used to decide the winner. As it transpired, Mullahoran prevailed 5-3 to qualify for the final against St Enda's on December 2.

"I think it is the wrong way to do it, there'd be nothing wrong with next Saturday, but they've made the rules and unfortunately we're on the wrong end of it," former Derry star Muldoon told the Irish News.

His Mullahoran counterpart Seanie Smith agreed that it was an unsatisfactory way to decide the outcome.

"It's not a great way to finish a game, but we're happy," he said.
