Dingle mentor hit with eight-week ban

Violent scenes during the Kerry SFC semi-final replay between Dingle and East Kerry at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

The Dingle official caught on video punching an East Kerry player during last Sunday’s Kerry SFC semi-final replay has been handed a proposed eight-week suspension.

Kerry county board’s Competitions Control Committee (CCC) convened last night to discuss the referee’s report from the game which was marred by the brawl that broke out just after half-time at Austin Stack Park, Tralee.

It was proposed that the Dingle mentor, who was not named by the board, serve a two-month ban which he now has three days to appeal against.

East Kerry players Paudie and David Clifford have been handed one match suspensions for straight red cards received during the game, while their manager Gerry O’Sullivan, who was also sent to the stand, wasn’t found guilty of any offence and will therefore receive no punishment.

Dingle won the game by 4-13 to 0-12, with Kingdom ace Paul Geaney netting a hat-trick, and will face defending champions Dr Crokes this Sunday..
