James Horan's return to the Mayo hot seat has moved a step closer.
The Mayo News is reporting that Horan - who guided the county to the Sam Maguire Cup decider in 2012 and '13 - has been nominated by at least one Mayo club to replace the departed Stephen Rochford.
Horan has been the bookies' favourite ever since Rochford resigned.
Current U-21 boss Michael Solan and former All-Ireland minor winning manager Enda Gilvarry are other names being linked to the vacancy.
The deadline for nominations closes at 1pm today.
