The Belnaleck GAA club in Fermanagh are bidding to create a piece of history this Sunday.

Having won the county junior football championship last year before reaching the Ulster club JFC final, Belnaleck are now 60 minutes away from winning the IFC title this year and if they do so, they will be the first club in the county to go from junior to senior in two years.

It would be a remarkable achievement for the club to be competing for the New York Cup in 2019, but they have to get past a determined Irvinestown side first.

Although clubs have gone from junior to senior in two years in other counties, this will be a first in Fermanagh, if Belnaleck can achieve the feat.

For a small club, the Art MacMurrough's have a strong representation on the county senior team with All-Star nominee Che Cullen, his twin brother Lee and Kane Connor all lining out in defence for the Erne County in 2018.

In fact, Belnaleck had three starting players in Fermanagh's Ulster SFC final defeat to Donegal, the same number as senior champions Derrygonnelly!
