Connor McAliskey is facing another spell on the sidelines after sustaining a broken ankle while playing for his club in the Tyrone SFC last evening.

The luckless forward, who missed nearly of all last season with a cruciate ligament injury, was stretchered off during Clonoe's surprise 1-11 to 2-9 first round defeat to Ardboe in Coalisland.

In the weekend's other first round games, Galbally beat Pomeroy 3-15 to 2-13 after extra-time, Lee Brennan starred for Trillick in their 2-11 to 1-7 win over Donaghmore, while Edendork edged out Moy 0-10 to 0-9 in a game which saw Sean Cavanagh sustain horrific facial injuries and referee Kieran Eanetta issue a whopping 27 cards - 20 yellow, six red and one black.
