A special club forum is to be held in Kilkenny later in the year where clubs can voice their opinion on how to deal with the current issue of fixtures scheduling.

In a novel approach to the problem Kilkenny GAA have decided to let club players have their say on the matter after this season’s fixtures saw the campaign drawn out more than ever.

There was a 17-week delay between the opening round of the league/championship and the second round due to Kilkenny’s involvement in the new-look Leinster round robin series and the All-Ireland SHC quarterfinals.

Clubs have been urged to make proposals to help ensure that club players get games during the summer months.

The fixtures problem is not confined to just Kilkenny and is an ongoing issue in every county in the country, so much so that GAA President John Horan has established a group which includes Kilkenny manager Brian Cody to review the scheduling of games.
